Dune Author Frank Herbert’s ties to the Pierce County Republican Party

Frank Herbert, author of the science fiction classic Dune, worked for Republican causes in Pierce County, Washington. His grandparents came to Washington in the late 1800s to set up a socialist commune in Burley, next to Gig Harbor.
