Maia's passion for community is evident in her various endeavors.
In addition to her work on the OSPI Race and Ethnicity Student Data task force and Governor's Commission on Hispanic Affairs, Maia is the Executive Director and Founder of the Center for Latino Leadership, a civic-engagement, education-oriented nonprofit serving Washington State. She founded the organization to empower, inspire and equip the Latino community of Washington to engage in state and local government.
Mark Herr
Candidate for State Representative Pos.1
Mark stands in solidarity with the community and brings a unique perspective and understanding, particularly for military families, owing to his own former military background. He is dedicated to addressing and resolving critical local problems, such as the notorious long delays in traffic and Olympia ignoring our ferry systems.
As a small business owner, Mark possesses firsthand experience in managing finances prudently, which is instrumental in his approach to governance. He is committed to working within the means of a strict budget, focusing on solutions that do not continue to burden our already struggling low-income families.
Mark's blend of military discipline, business acumen, and genuine concern for community welfare positions him as a steadfast ally in our collective effort to navigate and overcome these pressing challenges.
Gabe Sachwitz Candidate for State Representative Pos.2
Sachwitz has proven he could overcome anything; he dropped out of school to work multiple jobs throughout his teenage years to support himself. At the age of 20 he earned his GED and at 21 he joined the United States Marine Corps where he successfully completed two tours overseas. After being honorably discharged, Sachwitz went on to earn an associate’s and bachelor’s degree in mathematics along with a Master of arts in human behavior.
Prior to moving to Washington, Sachwitz taught mathematics, worked for the VA & was a Sheriff’s Deputy. He is currently a math teacher for a local school district and serves as a firefighter for the Anderson Island Fire/Rescue. Sachwitz serves on Anderson Island Citizens Advisory Board & is vice-president for the Riviera Community. He also volunteered for a veteran’s readjustment counseling center and as color guard/communications officer for American Legion Post 265.
